VMC Hosts Panel on Cloud Computing at STAR WEST 2009
Redmond, WA (October 2, 2009) –VMC continued to demonstrate thought leadership in the Software Quality Assurance field by conducting a panel presentation on testing in Cloud Computing environments at STAR WEST 2009, held at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA. VMC’s panel featured senior executive and QA subject matter delivery experts for a roundtable discussion on the best practices and pitfalls of testing in the cloud. The VMC panel, “Forecast for Testing in an Online Environment: Cloudy” was part of a distinguished conference schedule of industry experts at STAR WEST 2009.
Led by VMC Senior Program Manager in Quality Assurance, Alfonso Lombardi, the panel brought together the unique perspectives of different practice area divisions at VMC for a diverse discussion on testing in the cloud. Representatives from VMC’s IT IS Team included, Chuck Rush, Director of IT IS, and Chuck Hobart, Manager of Business Development IT-Infrastructure Services. VMC’s Director of Consulting Services, Eric Mead, and QA Solutions Architect Scott DeCamp were also contributing members of the panel.
Highlights of the panel discussion included managing the interrelationship between software testing and hardware resources in cloud computing, and mapping cloud computing architecture for deployment. Panelists walked attendees through a readiness assessment for cloud computing beginning from current state analysis, to infrastructure planning, implementing services, security, and maintenance programs, and environmental planning. The session concluded with a discussion on how test engineering differs in a cloud environment, how automation is a factor, and the environment and skill-sets necessary for test programs in the cloud.
